As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be . . .

During the year of 1992 we were attending meetings of an Issachar Group, which was formed through the work of CCM whose centre was based at Moggerhanger. The title of these groups came from 1 Chronicles 12:32 `. . . men of Issachar who understood the times and knew what Israel should do . . '. During this time we had published a study entitled `As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be'. We offered it to the Group Leader for consideraton before releasing it to the other members, but sadly the offer was not taken up as it was considered that the members `were not ready for that yet'. On reading it through in 2013 we see that much of what was recorded in that study was mild compared to what is evident in today's society. The analogy of `placing a frog into a saucepan of cold water and bringing it to the boil' comes to mind as we see the degradation of a society that has accepted this degradation as normal in a mere twenty years. For these Reflections we write sections of that earlier study, for the Scriptural background of that earlier study remains sure and steadfast and needs only to be placed into a contemporary setting in order for us to see that `as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be' is that much closer.

"As the time approaches for the return of the Lord Jesus there appears to be an awakened interest in `as in the days of Noah'. An awakening indicates a re-occurring interest, an interest which has lain dormant until an incident brings it to our remembrance and we pause and remember again the words of Jesus, `As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be at the coming of the Son of Man'. This is the continued and long-awaited sure promise of God that He is coming and `blessed are they who long for His appearing'. Such an incident for us was receiving two cassettes entitled `The Return of the Nephilim'. "

This `awakened interest' took us back to the Book of Genesis chapter 6 and into the times of Noah: `Noah was a religious man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God'. The chapter opens with a picture of utter depravity. Surely such times are with us again, and with understanding of these times there will again be many `Noahs' arising from among God's people.

"When men began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were
born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful,
and they took wives of all which they chose. "

The word translated as `wives' comes from the Hebrew word `Ishar', meaning `women' (from the male `Ish') therefore the correct meaning of the above verse says, `they took women (sexually) of all which they chose'. Among serious Bible believers there is little doubt that the `sons of God' mentioned in Genesis 6 were fallen angels and that sexual activity took place between those spiritual beings and `the daughters of men [who] were beautiful'. The result of their union was the Nephilim - which caused the LORD to cry out that `He was grieved that He had made man on the earth, and His heart was filled with pain'. So the Flood came, and with it the destruction of the world and the salvation of Noah and his family. We record Genesis 6:1-7 in full:

" When men began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful and they took wives of all which they chose. Then the LORD said, `My Spirit will not contend with man for ever, for he is mortal; his days will be a hundred and twenty years'. The Nephilim were on the earth in those days - and also afterwards - when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown. The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. The LORD was grieved that He had made man on the earth, and His heart was filled with pain. So the LORD said: `I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth - men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and the birds of the air . . for I am grieved that I have made them. "

We will briefly pick up the bare facts from these verses, which are well known to most Bible students. Noah, a preacher of righteousness, was commanded to speak out for a further 120 years before God would carry out His righteous judgement against man's wickedness. The population had begun to increase. Life returned to `normal' following the rebellion of Adam and Eve which had resulted in their banishment from the Garden of Eden. A new way of life was opening up - to the point where `the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful and married any of them they chose'. (How easy it is to be deceived when we see colourful weddings . . fresh-faced young people . . the colour and excitement of being involved in the normal lifestyle of any reasonably settled town . . the day-to-day bustle of modern living . . But here God saw beneath the bright surface, and 120 years was all the time He would allow before all that was so wicked in His sight would be swept away by the Flood.) Verse 4 talks of the Nephilim being on the earth, and the Hebrew word here has the meaning of `giant'; `There were giants on the earth in those days - and also afterwards'. Scripture reveals some of the names of those Nephilim - those giants who were `also afterwards'. Numbers 13:33 records the words of the frightened spies returning to Moses after spying out the land of Canaan:

" We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak came from the
Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we
looked the same to them. "

Earlier in Numbers 13:22 we read that Abiman, Shesai and Talmai, the descendants of Anak, lived in Hebron, and we can read of a whole tribe of these giants in Deuteronomy 2:

v10 The Emites . . . a people tall as the Anakites.
v11 Like the Anakites, they too were considered Rephaites . .
v20 That too was considered a land of the Rephaites, who used to live there;
but the Ammonites called them Zamzummites. They were a people strong
and numerous, and as tall as the Anakites.

Deuteronomy 3:11 tells of yet another giant:

" Only Og king of Bashan was left of the remnant of Rephaites. "
2 Samuel 21:16 gives us the name of yet another of the Nephilim:

" And Ishbi-Benob, one of the descendants of Rapha (a Rephaite). "

1 Chronicles 20:5-6 tells of the death of Lahmi, the brother of Goliath (who we know was killed by David) and of yet another huge man with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot . . `he also was descended from Rapha'. We could spend more time setting out the genealogy of these Nephilim, but that is not our purpose here. Sufficient has been recorded here to give us a Scriptural basis for the Nephilim, the giants `who were on the earth in those days, and also afterwards', but we need to look at the origin of the Nephilim, and why they invoked the wrath of God. Genesis 6:4 gives us a clear answer:

"When the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. "

At this point we need to establish briefly just who were those sons of God so that we may then have a clear picture of what `the days of Noah' were really like. For this we shall need to look at what is recorded in the oldest book in the Bible. Job 1:6 tells us:

" One day the angels came to present themselves before the
LORD, and Satan also came with them. "

As always among Bible students, disputes will arise over the meaning of words - often through their personal preference of translation! Here one such word translates as `angels' in the NIV (with a footnote that in Hebrew it says `sons of God') and is translated as `sons of God' in the KJV. Only that which is a specific act of creation can be said `of God', therefore the phrase `sons of God' refers not to those born of the flesh and of man but to those born of God. John 3:6 states clearly that that which is born of the Spirit is spirit, and in Luke 3:39 Adam is called a `son of God'. Again in Job 2:1 we are told of yet another day when;

. . . . the angels came to present themselves before the
LORD, and Satan also came with them. "

In Job 38:7 where the creation of the earth is described we are told:

" . . . . the morning stars sang together and all the angels
(the sons of God) sang for joy. "

Here we have three clear Scriptures describing the sons of God as created angelic beings, which will now enable us to understand what really occured in Genesis 6. Angelic beings, part of the rebellious angels led by Satan, saw that the daughters of men were fair and they had offspring by them. These offspring were the Nephilim . . the giants - they were the offspring of the illicit union between fallen angels and human women, and so:

" The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. The LORD was grieved that He had made man on the earth, and His heart was filled with pain. "

We also read of these `sons of God' in 1 Peter 3:19-20
" . . . through whom He (Jesus) also went and preached to the spirits in prison who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built . . . "

A further confirmation of the fate of these `sons of God' is found in 2 Peter 2:4-5:

" For if God did not spare angels (sons of God) when they sinned,
but sent them to Tartanus (hell), putting them into gloomy dungeons
to be held for judgement . . . "

One final confirmation of who these sons of God were is to be found in Jude verse 6:

" And the angels (the sons of God) who did not keep their positions of
authority but abandoned their own home
- these He has kept in chains
for judgement on the Great Day. "

In bringing these Scriptures together we can now see the reason for God's cry of distress over His creation: `For I am grieved that I have made them'. The angels (spiritual beings), who had joined Satan in his rebellion in heaven, had left `their own home' in the heavenly realm and mated with human women - with the resultant explosion of such wickedness that God was finally moved to put an end to it! We have also seen in the Scriptures that the Nephilim who re-appeared after the Flood had become mutants - with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot - they were truly fearsome creatures! The Philistines kept their own `pet giant' Goliath through whom they taunted the Israelites, for they knew the fearsome reputation these giants had. But God used David to execute His judgement on Goliath just as He had used Noah to warn of His coming judgement in earlier times. The reason why the Nephilim reappeared in the earth after the destruction of all life (other than Noah and his family) is, as they say, another story, but it is clearly stated in Genesis 6 that they would reappear for:

" The Nephilim were on the earth in those days - and also afterwards -
when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had offspring by them. "

However the strain which had reappeared was now of a weaker nature, for we read in 1 Chronicles 20:6:

" When he (the giant) taunted Israel, Jonathan son of Shimea,
David's brother, killed him. "

By the inclusion of those three small words in Genesis 6:4 `and also afterwards' we have a clear indication of what to expect when, `as in the days of Noah so shall it be at the Coming of the Son of Man'. That is not to say that we are building a case for the return of a mutated race of giants, but we are setting out the clear warning found in Scripture of an onslaught of spiritual infiltation such as we have not experienced in our recorded time-span but which will be seen again in the time leading up to the return of the Son of Man! We have mentioned before that we can have no clear comprehension of what was spiritually released into our Western culture during the `pop revolution' of the 1960's - which has also been the pattern of living to be copied in every part of the world once the iron hand of totalitarian authority had been removed. The Hippy culture, mixed with eastern mysticism; drugs; wild (and ever wilder) music; the youth cult psychadellic colour and movement to deaden the senses; discordant music to destroy balanced thought patterns; incredible `art' forms funded by whomsoever, and Government aid . . . all these and much more were but the results of a powerful spiritual invasion to prepare the ground for what will come in an even more virulent form than we have seen so far.

How can this have happened, to the point where this swamp of evil has now become the accepted norm of life? It begins with a deliberate rejection of God's will, as revealed in the Scriptures, and men beginning to say: `I think'! In short, it starts with Philosophy (man's thinking) and then quickly seeps into music, art, literature and poetry as others begin to pick up the new thinking. Finally, it spreads into all areas of our sub-culture - to the point where religion, fearing to be left out, moves its goalposts and over a period of one or two generations a major shift will have occured. To illustrate the point more clearly, extracts from a review of a book published in 1992 will demonstrate this slow but deliberate slide into what will become an abyss. The author was an entirely `modern miss', a totally secular person who had picked up this slow slide. The words may shock, but sometimes we may need to be shocked out of our complacency in order to see what is being released into society, and it will enable us to put real `flesh on the bones' of Scripture - and in particular the words, `As in the days of Noah so shall it be'. The book is entitled `Men, Women and Chainsaws' - but we break in here with the comment that there is no need to offend by writing the words of the Reviewer, a Ms Clover, who was also reviewing the now-acclaimed classic film, The Silence of the Lambs. She stated that: `A few years earlier such a horror film would have been dismissed as low-budget trash and shown only in sleazy cinemas in London Soho'. It had, however, become the third film in history to win five main Oscars - best film, best actor, best actress, best director and best screenplay.

The nub of Ms Clover's argument was that innovation in the movies trickles upwards. Low-budget films considered to be `beyond the pale' morally and artistically, turn out in the long run to be the mother-lode of future Oscar winners. The Reviewer goes on to cite other such films where `the low-budget trash' of earlier years became Oscar-winning, much-acclaimed `works of art' within a space of a few years, once the population has been prepared for it! She goes on:

" The makers of `The Silence of the Lambs' plainly got their timing right . . . Is it so different from `The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' (which in 2013 was released in 3D) in which a member of the murderous Sawyer family sports a leather mask as a prelude to . . . "

The Reviewer had certainly picked up the slow steady slide towards `the days of Noah' for she continues:

" These movies, give or take a glitch, tell the same yarn, because horror stories are a branch of fairy tales - their power rests in the fact that they rehearse fixed stereotypes that audiences want to see and hear again and again . . . . Horror and slasher films succeed in accordance with their familiarity. If they are too original, the audience fails to comprehend. "

There are two main themes revealed in this worldly Book Review, which, we would suggest, are clearly revealed in Scripture. One is the quiet, steady, persistent probing into the thoughts of people, until the time is right and total acceptance of this probing will occur. The other is that these probings seek to debase and desecrate those made in the image of God, to the point where the one who is being desecrated will strike back - leading to the total debasement of all. This probing is persistent and continuous, today, in our midst.

There is little need in 2013 to update what was written in 1992, much of which has developed far beyond what could have been imagined at that time. The www.com. revolution has released an unstoppable evil force into the heart of most families, with, it would seem, access by any and every family member into this world of evil at the press of a button - and now we have moved beyond personal computers into mini computers built into mobile phones, which through peer pressure are seen as every child's need. This matter caused us to enquire again of the Lord, for there has to be an answer in Scripture. This obviously led us back to the words of Jesus in Matthew 24 - `As in the days of Noah' and we therefore need to remember that Jesus also said, `As it was so shall it be again' before the Flood carried them away: Genesis 6:12-13

" So God looked upon the earth and indeed it was corrupt, for all flesh
had corrupted their way on the earth. And God said to Noah, `The end
of all flesh has come before Me for the earth is filled with violence through
them, and behold I will destroy them with the earth'. "

Then came the Flood which destroyed the wickedness. Therefore, in order to trace the final acts of wickness that caused God to issue this awful decree, we need to look at the preceding vereses 1-4 - and this is why we have spent time in this Study to bring out the meaning of events recorded in Genesis 6. These verses tell us how the fallen angels (sons of God) entered into sexual union with `the daughters of men' and produced mutated offspring who grew up to be `mighty men'. This was the final act of wickness that caused God to say: `I am sorry that I have made them'.

Recorded history tells us that there have been many manifestations of attempts to form these illicit unions. They are given the titles of `Incubus and Succubus' . . springing from the Latin word `Incubo', which gives us our modern word `incubation'. The title means `oppressive nightmare' and describes spiritual beings seeking to have sexual intercourse with humans - the Incubus assaulting women and the Succubus assaulting men. Again the words of Jesus are very clear: `As it was, so shall it be again in those days'. With the coming of what is known as the `Ultimate Reality' world of computers - where by using special equipment those who control the buttons can enter into their created fantasy and it becomes as real as if it were actually happening to them - the danger is created of `little nobodies' at last being able to become the world's greatest hero . . lover . . killer . . or even a god! All it requires is for perverted people to see a commercial opportunity for people have been well and truly prepared. Again this will lead to God saying, `My Spirit shall not strive with men for ever' and sending that final flood, which is called in Scripture the Tribulation.

These thoughts are subjective, but they are certainly in line with the concern many feel for vulnerable people, young or old. Has the seed of evil so quickly and easily developed within our midst that its flowering is seen in the sexual abuse by spiritual beings of children - who ae unable to receive help because the core of people responsible for trying to help them do not accept any spiritual concept? Are we that close to the true Church being caught away to be with the Lord without our realising it? Certainly these thoughts might attract unfavourable comments from secular sources who ridicule fundamental Christians. They might even attract the same comment from earnest Christians who would prefer the sensational expose of ritual Satanic abuse. Have we perhaps lost sight of the reality of the spiritual world, even though we pay lip service to it? Do not think that Christian families are immune from this Satanic probing! Much of what is described as Christian TV Teaching is very questionable on matters of doctrine. There is much heavy emphasis on power and ministries where the congregations are `slain in the Spirit' and fall down in swathes in the path of what could be likened to a giant combine harvester. Little attention is paid to the message, but much attention is paid to the `miraculous'! This use of God's Word as entertainment is just a preparation for massive deception and many Christians are being polluted in this way.

In previous studies we have drawn freely upon the allegory of a flower in bloom, urging Christians to stop looking at the flower and look for the seed that is already formed. We then developed the allegory into the side roots spreading out into our sub-culture, but now we are looking for the root, for only when we have found the root can we deal with the problem. This allegory can also be spoken of in secular terms: A thesis merging with an antithesis produces a synthesis, which then becomes a new thesis to merge with a new antithesis to produce a new synthesis . . . and so on and on. This has been described as `matter in motion' - the technical term for it is `a dialectic', a movement which moves so completely away from the original thesis that it bears no resemblance to it! The original is then removed from a culture, yet leaving society with the belief that it is still outworking itself according to the original pattern. This dialectic movement which has seeped into the sub-culture has become accepted as normal, and it is deeply planted in the Church - it can be heard in the softly-spoken reasonable comments of a caring Episcopalian American Bishop defending `Gay Rights' and `Women's Liberation' - and of course there are many others closer to home. We have to look for the root and deal with it for we cannot allow this thesis to merge with the antithesis!

Again, drawing on the wisdom of the secular world, we recall a humourous song from those `exciting' days of the 1960s:

" Take a pinch of white man, add a pinch of black man,
mix it all together and turn out coffee people by the score. "

Harmless . . we all thought . . fun to be alive! But this is matter in motion (mixing the thesis with the antithesis) and we are now seeing the flowering of the bloom spawned by that deadly poison of the 1960s. The object? The overthrow of God's authority and order! It is a direct attack against God! But in finding the root we are left with a problem, and so we must return to the original `thesis' - which is the total and final authority of Scripture, outworked in the Church under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. This leaves no room for the merging of this thesis with the antithesis of our traditions, for our opinions . . the way we see it . . will move us off into yet another synthesis! These things may well seem to be acceptable and good, but this will lead to deception of the most grave kind. God has called a people out from every tribe and nation to reveal His will and purpose for all mankind in these `days of Noah', that He might demonstrate His authority and order to the powers of darkness that are engulfing the world. We stand as the Church of the First-Born, meeting in lawful assembly - `For this reason, and because of the angels'.

Is this battle really understood? Those who do understand, those who stand in simple obedience to the Word of God alone, will be standing in direct conflict with the final manifestation of Satan's efforts to `sit enthroned above the clouds' through his attack against God's Sovereign Will by seeking to reverse His authority and order! The consequence of this conflict with all its ramifications needs little further explanation, but it will lead to open hostility from the world - and in particular from an unbelieving and disobedient Church where, as we mentioned previously, the slow steady reversal of roles in relationships and ministries are a sure sign of the apostacy prophesied before the return of the Lord. The most powerful tool of persecution will be a merger of secular and religious power, and behind this stands the Accuser of the brethren. It is for this reason `and because of the angels' that God now calls His people to be a witness to His Word.

Before we enter into this conflict we will need to hold deep in our hearts an understanding of the whole Church of God - which is made up of many `tribes' scattered in a Diaspora as real as that of the Jewish people, but now, like the Jews, is being regathered as one people to be purged of unrighteousness in order to be ready for the Lord's return. This calls for a deep overwhelming love for the whole Church . . a holding in tension of the pain God feels for His disobedient people and His overwhelming love for them, which causes Him to draw them back into this purging knowing that this alone will lead them into the relationship with Him that will fulfil every longing. Entering into this conflict without that tension would lead to soft compromise on one hand and on the other hand self-righteous judgement for a body of people that only God has the right to deal with. We believe this is the deep-seated root of the old New Age Movement, and the message contained in Genesis 6 - the final manifestation of Satan's rebellion against God before the return of Jesus - is unfolding and `the days of Noah' shall be again. God is calling for `Noah[s] a preacher of righteousness and seven others' to stand and speak before the true Bride of Christ is finally shut in `the Ark of Jesus' and taken away to be with Him for ever!

Although twenty years have passed since this earlier Study was written the contents of it have been bourne out by what has occurred in the intervening years: This `spiritual probing' has intensified, thereby confirming the opening remarks in the earlier Study of a re-awakening interest in what it must have been like in the days of Noah. If we take the thoughts recorded in the earlier Study, we shall see that once the public has been shocked by the first `film nasty' the paving of the way to an acceptance of a stream of pollution to be released has been made possible and acclaimed by `Oscars' and such like. However we must draw these notes to a close, and in doing so bring our thoughts back to God! We therefore move our thinking `backwards' from Genesis 6 and the Nephilim to Genesis 3 where the serpent was busy in the Garden tempting Eve - which finally led to the happenings recorded in Genesis 6. But we really need to go back one further stage . . back to the beginnig . . back to Genesis 1:1 and therefore bringing it back to God, for `In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth'. The narrative continues in verse 2:

" Now the earth was formless and empty,
darkness was over the surface of the deep . . "

This brings us to what is commonly known as `the gap theory', although we prefer to call it `the gap fact'. The two verses show a time-gap in `the history of the world' and verse 3 begins the history of the world as we know it:

" And God said, `Let there be light', and there was light. "

In Hebrew the words of the second verse give an understanding that not only was the earth `formless and empty' but that it had passed through judgement and had thus become formless and empty. This is a clear indication that there had been a judgement of the world earlier than that of Noah's Flood, and so terrible was this judgement that the earth became unrecognisable and was later `re-formed' through the power of God - as recorded in the Book of Genesis chapters 1 and 2. Such a judgement could only have come about because of some terrible wickedness and rebellion against God, and to understand this we would turn to certain passages in Scripture, in Isaiah and Ezekiel. In the Ezekiel passage we read of a mighty angelic being, a guardian cherub. God is speaking: (Ezekiel 28:15-16)

" You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created,
until wickedness was found in you . . . you were filled with violence,
and you sinned. So I drove you in disgrace from the Mount of God,
and I expelled you, O guardian angel. "

The passage in Isaiah calls the cherub `O morning star, son of the dawn', again revealing the wickedness which caused judgement to fall upon the world that he had been appointed to guard. The morning star - whom we now call Satan - said: (Isaiah 14:13-15)

" I will ascend to heaven;
I will raise my throne above the stars of God.
I will sit enthroned on the Mount of Assembly . . .
I will ascend above the tops of the clouds;
I will make myself like the Most High . . . "

This caused God's judgement to fall upon the world which the morning star was given to guard - and it became formless and empty!

Here, then, is the conflict of the ages! Satan, called in Scripture `the Usurper', still seeks to become like the Most High. We also need to understand the word `usurper'. A usurper must have a legal claim to that which he is attempting to usurp, and no matter how tenuous his claim might be, the claim is made with some substance to it. We see this understanding within the medieval feudal system where a vassal lord was allowed to exercise his authority within the domains of his king for as long as he kept his sworn allegiance to the king. Any breaking of that allegiance brought swift retribution and his removal from his position of authority. From time to time he might try to regain that which he still considered to be his - and this often led to the usurper king reigning for a while, but everyone knew that he was still a usurper and his end would come through a violent act!

Within Scripture we see this principle in the Mosaic Covenant, in the blessings and curses of Deuteronomy 28. When the Israelites failed to keep the Covenant they were driven from the Land of Israel, and it was God's love alone which gave them a New Covenant which only He could outwork. From time to time the Jews may seek to seize hold of what is theirs, but they broke the Covenant and the blessings stopped - and it would have remained that way apart from the faithfulness of God, to Himself and to His Word. It is this tenuous claim of the Usurper that was spoken of to Eve in the Garden in Eden! It was this tenuous claim that manifested itself in the wickedness of Genesis 6! And this tenuous claim is still being made today, for `as it was in the days of Noah so shall it be at the Coming of the Son of Man'. Thus the scene is set!

We are not looking for the return of the Nephilim but for the emergence of the Son of Perdition, into whom Satan will enter in a last attempt to regain the world which he considers to be rightfully his. It is this that believers in Jesus are called to stand against - a Usurper who still says. `I will be like the Most High'. This present world which the Usurper seeks to take back to himself is, as Peter says, `reserved for fire, being kept for the Day of Judgement and the destruction of ungodly men' - which gives us a little understanding of the depth of wickedness that will finally come over the face of the whole earth. But God has promised something else for those who are His!

Revelation 21:1 and 27
". . . a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea . . . . . Nothing impure will ever enter into it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life. "

Revelation 22:20-21
" He who testifies to these things says: `Yes, I am coming soon.'
Amen! Come, Lord Jesus'. "
The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God's people. Amen! "

And so we bring to an end this Friday Night Meeting which has contained some extracts from a study written some twenty years earlier. It was offered then to some people who had gathered together as a `tribe of Issachar who knew what Israel ought to do' but were considered `not to be ready yet' for they would be greatly disturbed to realise how `the steady stream of Babylon' had widened into a raging torrent! But whenever we look at what is unfolding in this present day we must never lose sight of our `sure and certain hope', the Coming of our Lord Jesus! Psalm 46, set in the `Exodus' Book of Psalms, speaking of that Great Deliverance for God's people, tells us: (Psalm 46:1-4 KJV)

" God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we do not fear, though the earth
give way and though the mountains be carried
into the midst of the sea, though the waters
roar and be troubled, though the mountains
shake in the swelling thereof. Selah
There is a river, the streams thereof which
shall make glad the City of God, the Holy Place
of the Tabernacle of the Most High. "

There is no better place in which to end these reflections for our Friday Night Meeting!
